Susan Busby, J.D. : A certified divorce mediator and collaborative lawyer, Ms. Busby is a member of the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals, the Central Connecticut Collaborative Family Law Group and is a board member of the Connecticut Council for Divorce Mediation and Collaborative Practice. She sees her role as a divorce lawyer as helping families through transitions.
She is a graduate of McGill University (1988), and the University of Connecticut Law School (1993), where she was an editor of the law review. Ms. Busby is co-author of a two volume treatise on Connecticut Civil Procedure, and has written articles for other legal publications, including "Divorce and Separation" in American Jurisprudence, a legal encyclopedia. Her article, "A Practice With Heart" was published in Bodhi magazine, Volume 8, No. 4 (2006) and The Connecticut Lawyer Volume 18, No 4 (2007). Ms. Busby was one of two dozen attorneys chosen by the presiding family judge in Hartford to be part of a special program to help families with children resolve parenting issues early on in their divorce process. Prior to becoming a divorce lawyer, she practiced trusts and estates and tax law.
Ms. Busby is also a trained pastoral counselor and meditation instructor. She and her two teenage sons reside in West Hartford.
